WiseTech Lifts Annual Earnings 46%, Flags Further Growth — Update

By Stuart Condie

SYDNEY--Logistics-software provider WiseTech Global raised annual earnings by 46% and flagged growth for the current fiscal year in line with analysts' expectations.

The Australian company, which reports in U.S. dollars, on Wednesday reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization for the 12 months through June of $558.4 million.

That was in line with the company's $550 million-$585 million guidance range, but short of consensus for $569.5 million, according to data compiled by Visible Alpha.

Stripping out items that WiseTech said were not included in its outlook, the company said Ebitda exceeded the top end of its guidance range by $800,000.

Its Ebitda margin of 40% was down from 49% a year earlier, reflecting the consolidation of its lower-margin e2open acquisition.

On an underlying basis, Ebitda rose by 56% to $644.5 million, compared with an average analyst forecast of $599.9 million.

However, underlying Ebitda did not include one-off items including $67.1 million in restructuring costs as WiseTech completed 1,200 of the 2,000 redundancies it announced in February.

WiseTech, which services more than 20,000 logistics providers across 193 countries, reported a 42% underlying Ebitda margin, which it said was ahead of guidance.

Including the reduction in headcount, WiseTech said it had generated $115 million in annualized run-rate cost savings. That also included $64 million in synergies from the integration of e2open.

Underlying net profit rose by 29% to $313.5 million from $1.40 million of revenue, which was up 79% on a year earlier on organic growth and e2open's contribution.

On a statutory basis, net profit fell by 11% to $178.7 million and the company raised its final dividend to A$0.088 from $0.077.

WiseTech said it expects underlying Ebitda for the fiscal year that began July 1 of between $725 million and $780 million. That was in line with the average analyst forecast of $760.8 million.
