Amova Asset Management, BIDV Securities Form Vietnam JV

By Megan Cheah

Amova Asset Management and BIDV Securities have agreed to form a joint venture in Vietnam, seeking to meet demand for professional asset-management services in one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing economies.

The joint venture will provide investment management services to individual and institutional investors, subject to regulatory approval and licenses, Japan-based Amova said Wednesday.

The initiative builds on the partnership between Amova's parent company Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group and Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam, the country's largest state-owned commercial bank that owns BIDV Securities, Amova added.

The Japanese asset manager said it regards Vietnam as a market with significant long-term potential, noting its strong economic growth is likely to be maintained in the medium to long term.

"Demand for professional asset management services is also expected to expand steadily...driven by the continued growth of financial assets held by both individual and institutional investors," Amova said.
