Mitsubishi UFJ, BlackRock to Discuss Collaboration on Private Credit in Japan

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group plans to discuss potential collaboration in the Japanese private credit sector with BlackRock.
The Japanese financial company said Tuesday that it would explore a framework that would enable a diverse range of institutional investors to participate in domestic private credit opportunities.
Mitsubishi UFJ said the domestic private credit market remains at a relatively early stage of development, compared to those in Europe and the U.S.
The company has identified private credit in Japan as one of its strategic focus areas and aims to offer attractive investment opportunities to both domestic and international investors, it said.
BlackRock acquired alternative credit investment firm HPS Investment Partners in 2025, positioning itself as one of the largest private and public financing platforms in the world.
