Porsche AG Streamlines Sales Organization

By Joshua Kirby

Luxury-car maker Porsche said it is streamlining its global sales divisions in a bid to boost its strategy.

The company is consolidating its home market in Germany into the Europe sales region and grouping responsibilities across the Americas, it said Wednesday. Germany boss Robert Ader will head the European division while the new Americas region will be led by current Porsche Cars North America Chief Executive Timo Resch, the company said.

Porsche Korea CEO Mathias Busse will also take on regional leadership, with a focus on key markets in the Middle East and across Asia where Porsche is eyeing sales growth.

The changes--due to take effect from the beginning of next month--will "bring responsibility closer to the markets," Porsche said.

"By restructuring, we are strengthening the regions' autonomy, speeding up decision making, and creating the conditions to implement our strategy even more consistently worldwide," said Matthias Becker, sales and marketing chief on the automaker's executive board.

The reorganization will be accompanied by various personnel changes. Christiane Zorn, current vice president of overseas and emerging markets, will move to a new role in Africa for Porsche AG's majority-owner Volkswagen Group, while various European and Australian leadership roles will also change hands. Jens Puttfarcken, CEO of Porsche France, is to retire at the start of next year, Porsche said.
