Heidelberg Materials Buys Majority Stake in Peru's Cementos Inka
By Andrea Figueras
Heidelberg Materials agreed to buy a majority stake in Peruvian cement producer Cementos Inka, as the German company seeks to expand its operations in emerging markets.
The building materials group said Tuesday that it has entered into a binding agreement to acquire a 70% stake in the family-owned business for an undisclosed sum.
Through the acquisition, which isn't subject to regulatory approval, Heidelberg Materials is focusing on its ambition to expand into attractive markets with strong growth potential, it said.
The transaction is expected to close by October and will be highly accretive to all the financial metrics of Heidelberg Materials from year one, it said. The deal is valued at an earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization multiple of around 6 times, based on the anticipated 2026 figure.
Cementos Inka currently employs around 270 people and operates two grinding units with a combined annual capacity of 1.3 million tons. Its production sites are located near Lima and Pisco, offering access to markets and efficient port connectivity for imports of raw material.
