Lonza to Expand U.S. Manufacturing Footprint With New Oregon Site

By Adria Calatayud

Swiss contract drug manufacturer Lonza Group said it is expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint with a new site in Oregon.

The company said Thursday that its new facility aims to meet growing U.S. demand and supports the pharmaceutical industry's efforts to build more resilient, regionalized supply chains for critical therapies.

The new facility in Bend, Ore., is expected to be in operation in 2029 and will initially create 80 jobs, Lonza said. The company didn't disclose the size of its investment.

Lonza said its new large-scale facility would be equipped with two spray-drying units, allowing for potential capacity expansions in the future as demand continues to grow.
