Sanofi to Take Stake in Cheplapharm in Swap for Drug Portfolio, Manufacturing Sites
By Adam Whittaker
Sanofi said it would give a portfolio of 20 developed medicines and three manufacturing sites to Cheplapharm in exchange for a 26.4% equity stake in the German pharmaceutical company.
The French drugmaker said Cheplapharm's expertise will ensure the so-called mature medicines continue to meet patients' needs over the next stage of drugs' lifecycle. The transfer should begin in the first quarter of 2027, Sanofi said.
Sanofi will then transfer the sites in Hungary, Singapore and France to Cheplapharm.
"Cheplapharm has been a trusted partner for more than a decade and this transaction significantly builds on its prior acquisitions from Sanofi's mature medicines portfolio," said Thomas Grenier, executive vice president of general medicines at Sanofi.
The full transaction is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2027.
