TotalEnergies Gets $1.8 Billion From BlackRock's GIP in African Energy Infrastructure Deal

By Adam Whittaker

TotalEnergies said a BlackRock fund will invest $1.8 billion into a portfolio of its African oil and gas infrastructure assets.

The deal announced Friday was with Global Infrastructure Partners and will see the French energy major pay a throughput-based tariff over a period of up to 15 years.

Infrastructure assets often form part of an oil major's midstream division and include pipelines and storage facilities.

TotalEnergies said the deal with GIP reinforces the value of some of its midstream infrastructure assets in Africa.
