Siemens Mobility Bags $1.49 Billion Contract in Austria

Siemens Mobility secured a contract valued at roughly 1.3 billion euros ($1.49 billion) to help Austria's railway company modernize the country's rail infrastructure.

The German group said the contract was awarded as part of a long-term framework agreement with a total volume of 2.6 billion euros as Austria seeks to roll out digital interlockings, computer-based railway safety systems to control rail assets.

Siemens Mobility said it would provide technology to integrate interlockings, train control system, and cybersecurity.

The first pilot project is expected in the fourth quarter of 2030.
