SoftBank Group Plans to Issue $11.1 Billion in Senior Notes to Fund OpenAI Investment

SoftBank Group plans to issue $11.1 billion in dollar- and euro-denominated senior notes to fund its planned $10 billion investment in OpenAI.
The Japanese technology investment company said Thursday that it would issue the notes at par in overseas markets and might also use proceeds for general corporate purposes.
SoftBank Group said it would issue $1.0 billion in notes due 2030 with an interest rate of 8.625%, $4.5 billion in notes due 2032 with 9.250% and $4.5 billion in notes due 2034 with 9.750%.
The Japanese company also plans to issue 500 million euros, equivalent to $569.3 million, in notes due 2030 with an interest rate of 7.125% and 500 million euros notes due 2032 with 8.000%.
Notes are rated at BB+ by S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings.
