Evonik Gets Takeover Offer From Rival BASF

Evonik said it received a takeover approach from rival BASF for all its shares.
In European afternoon trading, Evonik shares were up 9% at 19.69 euros. Year to date, shares have risen more than 40%.
The German chemical company said Friday that no talks are currently under way regarding the non-binding takeover approach. Evonik's market capitalization stands at 8.42 billion euros ($9.58 billion), according to LSEG.
RAG-Stiftung, which holds a 43.8% stake in Evonik, said it was contacted by BASF regarding the potential takeover offer.
BASF declined to comment.
