Temasek's Seviora, First Abu Dhabi Bank to Form Partnership for Investments

By Megan Cheah

SINGAPORE--Temasek's Seviora and First Abu Dhabi Bank plan to establish a strategic partnership to seek investment opportunities.

The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding to explore potential deals, including coinvestments, and support knowledge sharing, Seviora and First Abu Dhabi Bank said Monday.

The Abu Dhabi-based lender, which has total assets of around $384 billion, will explore ways to distribute investment strategies managed by Seviora and its affiliates through its wealth-management platform.

The partnership strengthens Seviora's connectivity across the Middle East, said Wolfgang Klemm, the company's head of strategy and development.

Seviora, the main asset-management platform of Singapore state-investment firm Temasek with $76 billion in assets under management, opened its Abu Dhabi office last year.

Structural overhauls, strategic partnerships and the influence of sovereign wealth funds are boosting the Middle East's status as a growth region for private capital, according to an Aladdin by BlackRock report.

Middle East sovereign wealth funds tracked by Preqin allocated 43% of their exposure to private capital, compared with 35% for most of their peers, the report said, noting that this gap could represent a "meaningful difference in dollar terms."
