SoFi's home-loan originations nearly doubled in the latest quarter

SoFi CEO Anthony Noto says the company is moving "with urgency to lead the next phase of financial services."

SoFi Technologies just delivered $1 billion in quarterly revenue for the first time as it saw big growth in lending originations and new customers.

The financial-technology company added a record of 1 million new "members" in the fourth quarter, bringing its total to 13.7 million. SoFi (SOFI) sold 1.6 million new products in the period, 37% more than it did a year before. Among those new products, 40% came via cross-selling to existing members.

Shares were rising about 4% in premarket action Friday.

The company's lending business remained red hot in the period, with total loan originations rising 46% from a year before, hitting $10.5 billion - another record.

Overall revenue came in at $1.01 billion after adjustments. That was up 37% from a year before and above the $977 million FactSet consensus. SoFi logged more than 50% growth in fee-based revenue, which amounted to $443 million.

The company posted adjusted earnings per share of 13 cents, well above the 5 cents recorded in the same period a year prior. Analysts had been looking for 12 cents.
