The Royce Micro-Cap Fund led the group for three- and five-year returns and ranked fourth for 10 years, trailing the Paradigm Micro-Cap Fund PVIVX, the Royce Micro-Cap Trust and the Wasatch Micro Cap Value Fund WAMVX.

The Royce Micro-Cap Fund has a net expense ratio of 1.24%. This makes for annual fees totaling $124 for a $10,000 investment. The fund's gross expense ratio is 1.26%, but expenses are being limited to 1.24% at least until April 30, 2027.

Two other funds on the list have temporary expense waivers:

-- The Bridgeway Ultra-Small Company Market Fund's BRSIX gross expense ratio is 0.83%, but the expense ratio is limited to 0.75%, with a shareholder vote required to lift it above that level.

-- The FullerThaler Behavioral Micro-Cap Equity Fund FTMSX has a 1.70% gross expense ratio for its institutional share class, but expenses will be limited to 1.35% at least through Jan. 31, 2027.
